The Moon is a large celestial object that orbits around the planet Earth. It appears in some of the Rusty Lake games as an interactive area, though is never visited directly.
Cube Escape: Seasons[]
The Moon can be first seen in the Summer, if the curtains to the window are opened. At first it is small, but if the player uses the Binoculars, the image can be enlarged and examined more closely. On the surface of the Moon there appears to be another window leading to an identical room, where Laura stands, writing the code to the nearby safe. She is then murdered by a Corrupted Soul and the window runs red with blood, though the numbers are still visible.
Rusty Lake: Roots[]
During the stage "The Masks", the player can obtain a mask known as the Moon Mask, and give it to Albert Vanderboom. When worn, it will cause the outside to turn to night and make the moon clearly visible. Like in Seasons, the binoculars must be used to examine the moon closer, where another window will appear with a Corrupted Soul.
Rusty Lake Paradise[]
The Moon features in the ninth chapter of the game, under the Plague of Darkness. The player must rearrange dials on a control panel to represent the moon in different phases, ending with it turning a completely full, blood red. The real moon then appears the same, and begins to bleed. The blood falls to Earth and becomes a red moon stone, which is then ground into power to reveal a shadowy image in the fire.
